Reflections on a Winter Day

Reflections on a Winter Day

crunching snow under booted feet

fur wrapped around my face

warm breath catching the brisk cold

as swirling will o’ the wisp

sunlight reminds me: promising warmer days

crunch…

crunch…

crunch…

banging white off boot bottoms

tea kettle makes its high pitched whistle

afternoon alone so knitted slippers

wrapped in a cozy blanket

warmed by memory of being loved

reflections of a lonely winter day
