You Can Let Go

Those of you who are followers of this blog may have noticed that I haven’t posted very much recently. Writing has always been a great comfort to me during difficult times. This holiday season brings my family a difficult gift. It is a gift because it is bringing my immediate family closer together as we prepare to say farewell to my father who is in the final stages of his battle with cancer. My Dad has had to let go of me, his daughter, at different points in my life so I could grow into the strong and loving woman that I am today. We had a conversation about a week ago that was the hardest one of my life. I told him that I knew that he was dying, that I loved him and that we would all be alright when it was his time to return home. Letting go of those you love is one of the hardest aspects to sharing unconditional love with others. You feel quite frankly like God has cracked your heart wide open. It slowly comes back together when he fills it with such a deep and true love. That love is the gift that comes during times like these. I am love and so are all of you.

Letting Go and Love

Cyndi Lauper is one of my favourite singers from the 1980s and many of her songs are comforting to me personally. This past year has been one of great growth. Many of my lessons in this lifetime revolve around unconditional love. This is the love that we receive from God, give to yourself, and also share with others. I am by no means an expert as I am continually humbled by what I am learning. Our hearts are infinitely wise in healing our wounds, and in replacing walls with bridges.

“Time after Time” by Cyndi Lauper illustrates how unconditional love also means at times letting go. Letting go is one of the hardest acts of love, because it is a great sacrifice to allow someone to go his or her own way. When you really love someone he or she is always with you in your heart. Not even death can break love’s bonds as where we originate from is a web of love. Love can’t be broken by distance or circumstance. It only requires a loving thought or memory for someone to remain in our hearts.

Time after Time

by Cyndi Lauper

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,

And think of you

Caught up in circles confusion

Is nothing new

Flashback warm nights

Almost left behind

Suitcases of memories,

Time after

Sometimes you picture me

I’m walking too far ahead

You’re calling to me,

I can’t hear

What you’ve said

Then you say go slow

I fall behind

The second hand unwinds

If you’re lost you can look and you will find me

Time after time

If you fall I will catch you

I’ll be waiting

Time after time

If you’re lost you can look and you will find me

Time after time If you fall I will catch you I’ll be waiting

Time after time

After my picture fades and darkness has

Turned to gray

Watching through windows you’re wondering

If I’m OK

Secrets stolen from deep inside

The drum beats out of time

If you’re lost you can look and you will find me

Time after time

If you fall I will catch you

I’ll be waiting Time after time

You said go slow

I fall behind

The second hand unwinds

If you’re lost you can look and you will find me

Time after time

If you fall I will catch you

I’ll be waiting Time after time

If you’re lost you can look and you will find me

Time after time

If you fall I will catch you,

I will be waiting

Time after time

Time after time

Time after time

Time after time

May all of you have a great week and I challenge you to express love to those around you who you share those bonds with in your lives right now.

Myself for Thee

Myself for Thee

Package waits to be unwrapped

A gift given with love to thee

A body that listens to touch

A soul crossed by your words

To be something or nothing

Saved me from drowning in sea

All I can render to you

I swear to be yours forever

Not in love with love at all

More like fumbling in abyss

Never-ending glistening skin

I wish to give you all

I am not pretty ribbons

Give yourself and I am yours

Not to be owned by you

But as a free bird in nest

Sacred Love

Unconditional love is a rare treasure to be found here on earth. It is love without condition, or attachment. The heart has to be very strong to face the tests and trials that must be experienced before it enjoys this treasure. Those who experience suffering have to learn how to re-open their hearts, become balanced through healing, and willing to receive this gift when God sends it. It’s only when we let go, and trust in God that our joyful journey begins. All the challenges that we face are worth even one moment of unconditional love.

Letting Go Takes Love

This beautiful video takes a different perspective on how it requires unconditional love to let go of people or situations in our lives. Many times when a relationship ends or someone leaves our lives we think that it means that person no longer cares. Often it is more powerful and beneficial to send them love as they continue along their own journey. We do not have control over someone’s free will, but we can appreciate the time that he or she had with us. One can also let go to receive freedom with God’s loving assistance. This is what I mean by surrender is that process of letting go, and letting God.
